Opening of the exhibition dedicated to the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture

On May 31, 2023, in the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Helsinki was opened an exhibition dedicated to the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture.

The exposition was prepared together with the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature and the National Library of Belarus. The exhibition includes materials about more than 500-year history
of book printing in Belarus and about the legacy of Saints Cyril and Methodius in our common history and culture.

In the opening of the exhibition took part the ambassadors of Belarus and Russia to Finland, representatives of the Russian Center for Science and Culture, compatriots living in Finland.

In his speech, the Ambassador of Belarus to Finland A.Samosuev stressed the importance of preserving the native language and its history, the spiritual acquisition of our peoples, which lives inside each of us.

On the same day, an international scientific conference on the topic
“The legacy of Saints Cyril and Methodius in the Russian diaspora” was held with the participation of Belarusian and Russian universities. A number of Finnish universities have expressed their interest in this event.
